Email at a glance: Trello’s new Timeline and Calendar views
For many teams (ours included!), Trello's visual, Kanban-style layout has been a game-changer for productivity. So we were pretty excited to see the introduction of a few different Trello views that offer fresh ways to visualize your board data.
The Timeline and Calendar views are two of our favorite new ways to manage your email workflow. With the SendBoard Power-Up enabled, incoming emails arrive as Trello cards in your shared workspace, so that you can get the whole team involved in responding to customers and collaborating on to-dos. The Timeline and Calendar views add a powerful new layer, allowing date and time-based organization of email so that you can see your email tasks across time at a glance.
Here’s a quick breakdown of our favorite new views and how to get the most out of them for your email workflow. Note that these are only currently available on Trello’s Business and Enterprise Plans. That said, let’s dive in...
Timeline view
Transform your email to-dos into a Gantt chart! Perfect for product development or project management teams, this view allows you to visually schedule your team’s time.
For a project manager like Bob the Builder, this is invaluable for building out sequential tasks and staying on top of schedule. By assigning start and due dates to email cards, Bob can envision his upcoming workload – and easily drag and drop to change things when the unexpected happens.
Plus, if Bob has contractors working across multiple jobs, he can filter by card member to see who might be doing too much or who has current availability.
Calendar view
If your team needs an overview of cards with due dates in a monthly, weekly or daily format, look no further! With Calendar view, you can easily plan and schedule your email tasks, making sure your day is broken into manageable chunks. This is especially useful for appointment-based businesses like Pet Cuts who can use the daily Calendar view to stagger bookings, keep track of appointment requests, and make sure the right stylist is assigned to the job.
No need to toggle back to your main Trello view to reply to emails either! Simply click on your card to open up and type your reply – and return to Calendar view by clicking out of the card when you’re done.
